At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy is excited to launch the first and only business entrepreneurship degree to be offered in Singapore in collaboration with the University of West London. The BA (Hons) Business Studies with Entrepreneurship degree is a one-year Level 6 top-up degree programme that will equip graduates to meet the future job market demands in Singapore and abroad. It offers to increase graduate employability, innovation & enterprise, student engagement and satisfaction through modules focused on theory, skills and practice. This innovative, industry-engaged, and student-centred approach is highly unique and competitive. Students will reap the benefits and increase their human capital as UWL graduates. The balance between theory, skills and practice provides students the opportunity to thrive in and experience a skilled knowledge economy. At the end of the programme, students will receive a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Business Studies with Entrepreneurship Level 6 (Top-up).

The University of West London (UWL) is a public university in the United Kingdom which has campuses in Ealing and Brentford in London, as well as in Reading in Berkshire.
The university has roots back to 1860, when the Lady Byron School was founded, which later became Ealing College of Higher Education. In 1990, Ealing College of Higher Education, Thames Valley College of Higher Education, Queen Charlotte's College of Health Care Studies and the London College of Music merged to form the Polytechnic of West London. In 1992, the Polytechnic of West London became a university and adopted the name Thames Valley University. In 2004, Thames Valley merged with Reading College and School of Arts and Design. A former campus in Slough was closed in 2010.
In August 2010, the university announced that it had been granted permission to change its name to the University of West London, to reflect a focusing of operations onto its Ealing and Brentford campuses. The new name was formally adopted on Wednesday 6 April 2011.

The BA (Hons) Business Studies with Entrepreneurship Level 6 Top-up degree programme is designed to develop the knowledge, understanding, skills and aptitude of entrepreneurship for effectively running business organisations, their contexts and management, including the acquisition of a coherent and detailed complex body of knowledge with at least some of which is at, or informed by, current boundaries, the forefront of defined aspects of enterprise, entrepreneurship, and intrapreneurship.
The programme not only develops students for a wide and in-depth knowledge, understanding and skills of effectively running for-profit and not-for-profit organisations in a fast-changing global business world but also provides students opportunities to develop their attitude, aptitudes, confidence, and unique competencies in setting, staring and developing and successfully running your own business. Thus, the degree will offer the enjoyment and satisfaction of being your own boss and creating employment opportunities for others. The degree focuses strongly on business start-up and managing growth aspects of new ventures. However, the skills taught would also benefit any student wishing to take up paid employment, particularly within a small to medium enterprise (SME) environment.
We employ a variety of teaching techniques to enhance your learning experience. Lectures will present new concepts, models, and theories, while practical sessions will focus on demonstrating real-world applications. Your learning will include:
- Task-based activities to enhance problem-solving skills.
- Group work to foster communication and the exchange of experiences.
- Discussion and reflection to promote inquiry, application, analysis, and experimentation.
- Group and individual tutorials by appointment to support your seminar learning.
- Utilisation of online platforms.
MODULES:
Semester 1
- Strategic Management: In this module, you will learn to explain the basic concepts, principles and practices associated with strategic management process. You will also critically analyse the internal business environment to determine strength and weaknesses and inform strategic management decisions for a given organisation using appropriate frameworks. Additionally, you will be able to critically analyse the external business environment to determine opportunities and threats and inform strategic management decisions for a given organisation using appropriate frameworks.
- Career Strategy and Planning: This module will give you the opportunity to apply professional career management skills designed to assist you in actively planning and preparing for your future careers.
- Business Sustainability and Social Responsibility in Practice: In this module, you will critically analyse the drivers of enterprise and wealth creation from the perspective of their ethical implications. You will also investigate changing approaches and attitudes to sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Additionally, you will have to critically evaluate frameworks for the discussion of business ethical issues and the use of tools for managing business ethics.
Semester 2:
- Entrepreneurship and Start-ups: At the end of this module, the learners will be able to design the actualisation in the form of a Business Canvas with supporting content that demonstrates a fully comprehensive and immersive study and evaluation of the idea development. Construct a Business Innovation Pitch Deck that presents the canvas to a potential Investor who may back an early-stage start-up and demonstrate in both the Business Canvass and the Business Innovation Pitch Deck an early-stage Proof of Concept.
- Start-up Project: At the end of this module, the student will be able to design the Actualisation as a Business Canvas with supporting content demonstrating a fully comprehensive and immersive study and evaluation of the idea development. Construct a Business Innovation Pitch Deck that presents the canvas to a potential Investor who may back an early-stage start-up and demonstrate an early-stage Proof of Concept in both the Business Canvass and the Business Innovation Pitch Deck.

Face -to-face classes are conducted on Mondays and Tuesdays from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM at the Academy.

At least 19 years old.
Language:
International students need to meet the English language requirement at either:
- IELTS at 6.0 or above and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening). OR
- TOEFL iBT at score of 76 or above OR
- Pearson PTE Academic at score 51 or above OR
- An equivalent secure English language test score.
Academic:
- A diploma qualification in business-related disciplines such as business, entrepreneurship, marketing, hospitality or similar from local Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) or other Private Education Institutions (PEIs). OR
- At-Sunrice's Diploma in Culinary Arts/Diploma in Pastry and Bakery AND Specialist Diploma in Food Entrepreneurship.
- Completed/exempted from National Service (for Singaporean males only).

This degree focuses strongly on entrepreneurship, which is ideal if you want to start your own business. It is also useful for anyone who plans to work in a small-to-medium enterprise (SME). A Business Studies degree can open the door to careers in a number of interesting areas, both in the Singapore, UK and abroad, including personnel management, marketing, business research, finance, sales, sales promotion, and retail management.
Alternatively, you could develop a related specialism or explore a new area on one of the UWL’s postgraduate courses.
