SPECIALIST DIPLOMA IN FOOD ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Ideal for aspiring entrepreneurs with a mindset to become successful in pursuing their entrepreneurial dream, this innovative 7-month programme will enable learners to gain cross-disciplinary entrepreneurial skills beyond the food & beverage industry.

At the end of this pathway programme, learners may progress to the 1-year Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Business Studies with Entrepreneurship (Top-up) degree by the University of West London at the At-Sunrice campus in Singapore*.

Upon completion, the graduate is awarded with a Specialist Diploma in Food Entrepreneurship by At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy.

The Specialist Diploma in Food Entrepreneurship programme aims to nurture learners with an entrepreneurial mindset to become successful in pursuing their entrepreneurial dream. This programme aims to impart cross-disciplinary entrepreneurial skills beyond food & beverage industry with one of the six key domains of market segments namely, well-being, sustainability, tourism, do good, education and journalism. This innovative programme - one of the first of its kind, is expected to expand and stimulate cross-disciplinary food related entrepreneurship beyond the Food Service industry driven by design and technology. The main objective of the programme is to guide aspiring entrepreneurs in their start up journey by infusing entrepreneur mindset, business acumen, customer focus and relationship building.

Delivery Methods:
Study and Industrial Internship pedagogy. Classroom sessions, demonstrations and/or hands-on practice with structured e-learning modules.

The programme consists of the following modules:

  • Foster Entrepreneurship: This module enables the learners to identify the core values of an entrepreneur and to create and evaluate viable business proposals.
  • Develop a Business Plan: This module enables the learners to develop a business plan by identifying business opportunities and analysing the impact of business environment.
  • Foster Business Relationships and Organisational Diversity: This module enables the learners to develop effective working relationships and networks to provide strategic value to the organisation.
  • Lead Managers to Develop Organisational and Governance Strategies: This module enables the learners to develop organisational strategies and review corporate governance management to meet organisational needs.
  • Manage Risk Across Business Units: This module enables the learners to manage risk across business units.
  • Innovate the Customer Experience: This module enables the learners to identify the elements that form customer expectations to provide the desired customer experience that is aligned with the organisation’s vision.
  • Provide Suggestions for Modifications to Existing Processes: This module enables the learners to provide suggestions for modifications to existing processes based on observations and develop plans for improving productivity and innovation as well as monitor the barriers to adoption of technology.
  • Industry Internship: On-the-job training at hotels, restaurants, or food services outlets.
  • Capstone Project: This is the culmination of the 6-month programme that allows learners to apply their learned skills and knowledge to develop a business plan by identifying business opportunities and analysing the impact of various factors affecting business environment. This also forms a consolidated assessment for the six modules.

• Passion for entrepreneurship in F&B industry

• At least 19 years old

• At least 1-year industry experience in any F&B establishments and/or any of the 6 key disciplines of well-being, sustainability, tourism, do good, education and journalism 

• Possess leadership qualities, artistic and disciplined

Singaporean/Singapore PR Applicants:

• At-Sunrice graduates of WSQ certificate/diploma programmes with a minimum average grade of B and above or equivalent; OR obtained at least a pass in a Polytechnic/ITE diploma or equivalent qualifications in the relevant field of study

• Completed/Exempted from National Service (for Singaporean Males only)

International Applicants:

• At-Sunrice graduates of WSQ certificate/diploma programmes with a minimum average grade of B and above or equivalent; OR obtained at least a pass in a diploma or equivalent qualifications in the relevant field of study; AND

• IELTS 5.5 / TOEFL (internet-based total) 46 - 59 / WPLN Level 5

  • Enrolment is subject to availability and incomplete applications will not be processed.

  • Trainee who chooses to drop out prior to successful completion will not be entitled to any certificates.
  • The following items are compulsory and must be purchased before commencement of programme:
    • Medical Insurance,
    • Fee Protection Scheme.
  • Food items from all practical session shall be consumed in the Academy, either during lunch or dinner time.
  • For food safety purposes, food items are not allowed to be taken home for consumption.
  • Students are required to meet the following criteria in order to obtain their relevant certificates:
    • Minimum attendance of 90% and above;
    • Pass all assessments required by the programme;
    • Adhere to the Student Code of Conduct.

 

A laptop is mandatory for all online assessments and submissions. To ensure full compatibility with our learning platforms, the laptop must meet the following minimum specifications:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or macOS 11 and above

  • Processor: Intel i5 / AMD Ryzen 5 or higher

  • RAM: 8GB or more

  • Storage: 256GB SSD or higher

6. Application Outcome
Applicants will receive a confirmation via email.
Successful applicants will receive an acceptance email, which includes the Letter of Acceptance (LOA), Advisory Note, and Student Contract.
